Each year, billions of tonnes of edible food is needlessly thrown away; that’s enough food to feed every hungry person on the planet, several times over. At Trendi we use robotics to rescue and upcycle that food, and with your help we can massively reduce needless food loss around the world. At the heart of Trendi is BioTrim, a modular processing unit that washes, dices, and freeze-dries otherwise wasted food on-site at farms and facilities. BioTrim rescues misfit fruits and vegetables before they’re wasted and converts them into a shelf-stable product we call BioFlakes, a nutrient-rich foundation for many other products. With BioFlakes, we’re able to create ingredients for packaged food, drinks, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and packaging. They can also be served through our robotic smoothie vending machines. Together we can explore what’s possible with upcycled fruits and vegetables and stop food waste.
